About the Sandy Erickson Race for Christian Education
The Sandy Erickson Race for Christian Education honors the life and legacy of Mrs. Sandy Erickson, a beloved first-grade teacher at Collegedale Academy Elementary School for over twenty years.
Mrs. Erickson was deeply committed to her students, investing countless hours in one-on-one mentoring to ensure each child’s success. She found joy in nurturing new teachers, guiding college student volunteers, and encouraging parents with her kindness and wisdom.
Even after her diagnosis with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Mrs. Erickson inspired everyone around her with her unwavering faith, cheerful spirit, and Christlike selflessness. Her classroom, often adorned with hot air balloons, became a symbol of her optimism and ability to uplift others.
With gratitude for her enduring impact, Collegedale Academy proudly dedicates this annual Fun Run to Mrs. Erickson’s memory. Join us in celebrating her legacy and supporting Christian education!
Fun Before the Run Carnival

- Vegetarian Food Sale – discounted case sale.

- Ticket presale: Friday before the race
- Tickets available for purchase with cash or card
Fun Run
Current 2nd graders and under
1:30PM at the CA Middle School (Registration closes at 1:30PM)
- Course: Loop on College Drive E.
- All participants receive a finisher’s medal
- Race registration is required.
5K Walk/Run
All Ages
2PM at the CA Middle School (Registration closes at 1:30PM)
- Start at the middle school, College Drive E., loop back to Pierson Dr., and finally loop back to the middle school driveway.
- Awards: The top 3 male/female awards are given per age-group/grade to runners on race day. All participants receive a finisher’s medal.
- Limited T-shirts available with race registration.
