Why am I doing this research paper?
When you think of the words research paper, you cringe,
thinking of spending days in the library and nights in front of a word processor
typing out pages and pages of material.
Don't worry!
First of all, we will be going through the whole process STEP BY STEP and
secondly, I am requiring only a THREE to FIVE-PAGE document.(You may now breathe a sigh of relief!)
The main purpose of this exercise is to teach you how to: develop and defend a thesis; do research; gather facts and organize material; and use other people's ideas properly.
The following is the fine print on the schedule:
1. This step-by-step process is more important than the final paper itself--process = 60% of grade (120 pts); final paper = 40% of grade (80 pts).
2. Complete all work according to the schedule (see link below) after the class discussion and by the due date. We will be beginning each assignment in class; you will most likely have to finish each assignment as homework.
3. Every assignment must be in envelope the schedule (as top page). (I do NOT accept loose work.) HOLD ON to the schedule --it is proof that you handed assignments in on time. Lost schedule = lost points.
3. Your final paper must be typed, at least three full pages (maximum 5), DS, Times New Roman, font size 12. It must be presented in MLA style (explained later). Your works cited (old bibliography) will be on a separate 4th page.
